About Children’s Ministry
We create a safe space for children to learn about the grace and love of Jesus Christ through fun, engaging Christian education.
We offer a place where every child is welcomed. During Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and special children’s ministry events throughout the year, children experience the warmth of loving adults that embrace the uniqueness of every child.
Our children experience God’s love through teaching, praying and demonstrating what it is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We give children permission to ask questions, and engage them in acts of worship and service.
We immerse children in learning through biblical teaching and the example of adults serving the children of Chapel Hill. In Sunday School children learn about God’s love through the stories in the Old and New Testament.
About Our Teachers
One of the greatest joys in working in children’s ministry is to watch the adults use their gifts and passions to love and teach the CHUMC children. One teacher is exceptional with pastoral care. She listens to the children, prays with the children, and teaches them about the grace of God through her cards, phone calls, and contact with the children and their families beyond Sunday mornings. Another teacher uses her love for art to engage the children in hands on experiences where they learn the stories of the Bible through creative means. Another teacher loves service! She and her husband have instilled in their classroom an eager anticipation for the children to serve by providing important opportunities for service for their Sunday school class. It is always a joy to see friendships develop among the children and for them to find a special bond with their Sunday school teachers.
