|NEWSLETTER – APRIL 13th
Chapel Hillers…my dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ….Grace to you and peace in the name of the One who was, the One who is, and the One who is to come. Amen.
This Saturday, April 16th, Chapel Hill is hosting a conference for men with the keynote speaker being the wolf from the KC Chiefs! He is inspiring and a devout follower of Jesus. Please click here to register, if you have further questions, feel free to call the church office 316-684-1117. This is an all-day event and Jay Robinson is our local liaison.
Saturday, April 23rd, Beautify Planeview – As I mentioned in my sermon this past Sunday, Chapel Hill is going to Planeview to work. This is a great opportunity to find out what and where Planeview is as a neighborhood. We would greatly appreciate it if you would click here to sign up in advance so we can be prepared. Please contact Pastor Jill at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions! Thanks for your prayerful consideration of serving the most impoverished neighborhood in our City.
Transportation Ministry – Do you feel the call to be a driver of the church van on Sunday morning to pick up and deliver those who are unable to drive on their own? We have several in our congregation for whom this ministry would be extremely beneficial. Please let Kellie Ochsner know if you have any interest in serving in this ministry. Drivers do not need a CDL. A license to drive a car is sufficient. Kellie can be reached at email@example.com
This Sunday in Worship….I will be preaching part 3 of the current sermon series, “Who Is This Man?” As I shared in part 1, Jesus’ teaching on forgiveness is radical and brought a challenging teaching to the first century and beyond. Forgiveness is complicated and complex. For example, there is a difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. Jesus is clear about the difference. I hope to see you on Sunday!
My blog this week…. Some reflections on the importance of hospitality as a congregation with a challenge to all of us….
Have a blessed week and remember….God loves you and so do I!
|– Jeff Gannon, Senior Pastor

KIDZCARE CLASS MISSION PROJECTS
KidzCare, a mission-oriented class for Pre-K through 5th graders, meets on Wednesday nights through May 4. We have two mission projects we will be working on.
On Wednesday, April 27, the kids will be assembling health kits to support the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). The health kits are used to provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave their homes because of natural disaster. If you would like to contribute items for the health kits, you can pick up a list at the Kids Booth in Fellowship Hall, or you can contact Raegan. We are excited for the kids to learn that they can be a part of missions and changing the world no matter their age!!
We will also be participating in Read to Feed, a project created by Heifer International. Heifer is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending world hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. The goal for our KidzCare class is to promote reading and to help Heifer provide livestock to struggling families as an ongoing source of income. Our goal for the class is $250 to buy a water buffalo. We only have until May 4th (our last class) to reach this goal! Prayerfully consider saying yes if any of the KidzCare kids ask you on a Sunday morning or Wednesday evening to sponsor them for this project.
Our prayer is that the Chapel Hill Kids experience that they can change the world and share the love of Jesus no matter how old they are!
SUNDAY SCHOOL CURRICULUM
In Sunday School, our Pre-K through 2nd graders are using Godly Play (a Montessori-based style of teaching) to continue the Easter story. Our 3rd through 5th graders are focusing on Resurrection in their Sunday School lessons.
The Chapel Hill Kids have Worship at the beginning of each Sunday School hour. In Kids Worship, we have been learning the Lord’s Prayer. Your children should have a pretty good understanding of the prayer Jesus taught us to pray! We are currently learning the Apostles Creed. Each week we are adding a new prop to our altar table to go along with learning and understanding the Apostles Creed. We are also learning the books of the New Testament with a fun song by Phil Joel (you can buy it on iTunes and practice at home).
