I Will Fear No Evil

This Sunday in worship, Pastor Jeff explores Psalm 23:4. “Even though I walk through the dark valley, I will fear no evil. You are with me, your rod and your strength, they comfort me.” Interestingly enough, the original language of the Psalm, Hebrew, does not say “shadow of death.” That came from King James in 1611. Perhaps that is why this Psalm has been considered a funeral Psalm because of King James’ influence and emphasis. This is a Psalm for every single one of us, no matter our age or stage in life. Also, interestingly enough, the Psalm does not say, “If you walk through the valley…” It says, “When you walk through the valley…” Everybody will walk through the valley at one point or another. The question is, “What do you do with your valley?”
