Serving at United Methodist Open Door

In the last few months we have discovered the joy of volunteering at United Methodist Open Door. Stan works in food distribution and Linda in the Klothes Kloset.  Open Door is an amazing, well organized ministry that provides food, clothing, homeless resources and housing support services.  All services are provided free to the clients.

On Friday, 173 individuals came to select clothing for 532 family members. Approximately 100 clients receive food assistance for themselves and their families each day. Approximately 150 homeless each day take advantage of the homeless day shelter services including lunch, laundry, and on site case management and connections to community resources.

Klothes Kloset

GREER, Stan & LindaFamilies, homeless, those just released from prison, those with mental and physical handicaps are clients who come to the Klothes Kloset each week. Open Door Klothes Kloset is a wonderful place to donate no longer wanted clothing, bedding, shoes, and small household items. There is a need for blankets for the homeless with cold weather coming.

Spend some time looking at the website to see all the amazing services being provided to the least of these in the name of Jesus.  Clean out your closets and donate items to Open Door. The website contains information on what items to donate and the hours they accept them. The Klothes Kloset is currently in need of volunteers to sort and hang clothing.

If you want to learn more about Open Door or about volunteering, talk to one of us. We would love to share our experiences with this awesome ministry.
